The course is taught in four one-week sessions, with each week of training separated by a month. The  time between training weeks is designed to facilitate project  work. Our Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Training uses the “Present/Practice/Apply/Review” strategy. That is, we present tools and methods, allow participants to practice them in class, then apply the tools to their projects, and finally review the results of the application to the projects.

The DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) approach is a popular Lean Six Sigma Black Belt tool for enhancing corporate processes. It incorporates a systematic approach to problem-solving that aids in detecting and eliminating mistakes, waste, and other inefficiencies inside businesses.

Here is a breakdown of each step in the DMAIC process:

Define

The problem or area for improvement must be located at this stage, along with a defined objective. Typically, a project charter is developed during this phase to specify the project’s parameters and determine the resources needed.

Measure

Data collection is required at this stage to create a baseline for the process performance. Various statistical techniques and tools are used to determine the crucial metrics that must be measured, such as cycle time, defect rate, and customer satisfaction.

Analyze

Creating and executing solutions to the challenges found are the tasks of this stage. The viability of implementation and their possible impact on process performance are considered while evaluating potential solutions. It is important to factor in areas such as marketing, safety, and growth as part of this assessment.

Improve

Process controls must be included in the final stage to ensure that the improvements are maintained throughout time. Some of the instruments used to establish and maintain the required level of process performance are control charts, process monitoring, and standard operating procedures. Supplementary resources like instructional videos can also help in achieving this goal.

Control

Lean Six Sigma Black Belts can efficiently detect and address process inefficiencies using the DMAIC approach, leading to improved quality, lower costs, and more customer satisfaction. Their expertise in various areas, including marketing and safety strategies, contributes to sustainable growth.

Combining the principles of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma, Lean Six Sigma is a methodology for process improvement that offers value to learners, employees, and employers. A Lean Six Sigma Black Belt is a professional with advanced training and experience in managing teams and complex improvement projects, often acting as project leaders. Lean Six Sigma Green Belts are professionals with a foundational knowledge of the methodology who can help implement improvement projects when working with a Black Belt, making them valuable assets for their employers.
