FOCUS: Response time project – “No Fluid Detected” wells.
The organization’s response time to “No Fluid Detected” wells was impacting production and overall profitability. Management felt that significant improvements were possible with the right focus and process improvement approach.
A Lean Six Sigma improvement team was commissioned to analyze the process and recommend appropriate changes. The team identified potential improvements to reduce the response time. As a result of their efforts:
- The well downtime was reduced from 467 to 138 days per month
- Production was increase by 377 Barrels of Oil per Day (BOPD)
In addition to the direct improvements resulting from this project, the work that was accomplished and communicated paved the way for other significant project efforts and subsequent improvements.
$2,500,000 in annualize ROI was created for the Oil Exploration and Drilling company.
