This is a whole new approach to learning the tools and methodologies of Design for Six Sigma Foundations through Air Academy. While we maintain our belief that in-class, instructor-led learning is always the most effective approach, we understand that there may be circumstances that prevent classroom learning. This virtual-style of learning will provide the flexibility and capability you will need to become proficient in many of the supporting tools necessary to execute Design for Six Sigma projects, all while retaining Air Academy’s famous Keep-It-Simple-Statistically (KISS) approach to instruction. Specifically, these sessions will focus on how to plan, design, conduct and analyze statistically designed experiments in order to build transfer functions and models. Learning the tools and methods in these modules will help you master the skills necessary to rapidly gain knowledge about a product or process, optimize performance and reduce variation, and help lead DFSS studies using design of experiments (DOE).

This self-paced course consists of 8 recorded sessions:
At the end of each session, there is an associated 5-question quiz to test your knowledge and gauge your understanding of that topic. To receive credit for module completion 4 out of 5 quiz questions need to be answered correctly. Quizzes can be taken until a passing score is achieved.
As with all of our training, the objective of this course is to develop a comprehensive set of skills that will let you function effectively as a change agent in your company. You will learn the Design for Six Sigma body of knowledge, practice techniques for both quantitative and non-quantitative analysis, and gain the skills necessary to become a practitioner of the Design for Six Sigma methodology and toolset to prepare you to lead Design for Six Sigma studies within your organization.
By the end of this course, learners should be able to:
Learners leave with a stronger ability to support design-focused projects using structured DOE thinking, model interpretation, and optimization methods. The course is especially useful for professionals who want a more complete and guided path than isolated Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification online resources or basic downloadable summaries.
Air Academy Associates offers a Design for Six Sigma Yellow Belt (Foundations) Online Training program built around practical application, not just theory. The course uses Air Academy’s KISS approach and is designed to help learners become proficient in the tools needed to execute DFSS projects and studies with more confidence.
One of the strengths of this course is its structured progression through eight recorded sessions. Learners move through full factorial designs, fractional factorial and screening designs, three-level designs, DOE rules of thumb, mixed-factor mixed-level designs, multiple response optimization, residual analysis, and historical data analysis in a sequence that supports stronger understanding and retention.
This course goes beyond broad yellow belt overviews by focusing on practical design and analysis skills. It is especially relevant for professionals who want to learn how to plan, design, conduct, and analyze statistically designed experiments in order to build transfer functions and models for real product or process improvement work.
For learners comparing free online materials, downloadable PDFs, and general exam-prep resources, this course offers a more complete and structured learning path. Instead of isolated files or generic summaries, it provides a guided online program with professional training context and a clear progression across key DOE-based DFSS methods.
The page positions this course within Air Academy Associates’ broader DFSS roadmap, helping learners understand the IDOV roadmap in Design for Six Sigma, with the White Belt course listed as a prerequisite and Green Belt and Black Belt courses available as next steps. That makes it a strong foundation for learners building toward more advanced DFSS capability.
Because the course is self-paced and online, it works well for busy professionals who need flexibility without losing technical depth. For learners exploring Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification online options, this program offers a more specialized DFSS-focused alternative centered on design and experimentation.

What did you like most? “the coaching session and videos, the possibility to stop the video if something is not clear”
Lisa was really the best. Also, videos were really good – Thanks to Lisa and Mark! “
“The online courses can be taken within the time frame that suits for my daily work. Yet, there are scheduled virtual sessions setting the milestones.”
“I thought this would be training like all the rest, I was very wrong. I found the instructor to be very interesting and captive with what could be thought of as dry data. He did not read from a power point, did not teach strictly from a book, but provided information that got me excited about making a difference in our operation which ultimately improved the bottom line. I was not trained only, but was given the opportunity to certify, which verified I understood the training.”
This course is especially useful for professionals in roles such as:
The course develops skills in experiment design, model interpretation, optimization, and historical data analysis. Those capabilities are valuable in organizations that want better product performance, lower variation, and stronger design decisions supported by data.
This training can strengthen readiness for design-focused improvement work and provide a practical stepping stone toward DFSS Green Belt certification. It is useful for professionals who want more than basic review materials and need a structured online course tied to real application.
