In my over 20 years of experience, I have had many courses, seminars, or training on ‘how to do it better’. Most, would be training only, and application to actual daily work would never be applied. How many times has this happened to others? As a Quality Engineering Manager in PWB and box assembly for mostly military hardware, I was provided the opportunity to attend an accelerated Six Sigma Black Belt course given by Air Academy. I thought this would be training like all the rest, I was very wrong. I found the instructor to be very interesting and captive with what could be thought of as dry data. He did not read from a power point, did not teach strictly from a book, but provided information that got me excited about making a difference in our operation which ultimately improved the bottom line. I was not trained only, but was given the opportunity to certify, which verified I understood the training. Now, years later,as a Site Director with Jabil After Market Services, I have had the opportunity to bring Air Academy in to work with us in Lean and Six Sigma Black Belt training. I brought folks in from all over our region and some globally.
